The border guard Tina is a remarkable phenomenon. Her strangely swollen face, her probing gaze and her physical strength give the young woman something animalistic. Tina also has a special ability: she can smell fear, shame and anger in other people. Her talent is successfully used by the Swedish Border Guard to track down criminals. Nevertheless, Tina feels strangely alien among her fellow men and lives lonely and close to nature as an outsider in the woods. But then she meets Vore, who looks strikingly like her and with whom her talents reach their limits. Tina suspects that Vore has something to hide. And yet, unselfconscious, wild and astonishingly free, Vore has an immense attraction for her. Tina senses a familiarity with him that was previously foreign to her. As the two grow closer, Vore reveals her mystical origins. But this knowledge brings not only new freedoms, but also uncomfortable challenges that Tina must face. BORDER is as bold and as dark as a fairy tale can get. Director Ali Abbasi inspires with a fantastic story that breaks boundaries as gently as it touches. Between identity and self-determination, he succeeds in creating a ravishing fable whose raw magic captivates the audience.
