Early 18th century: when a group of young enslaved men is taken from Africa to Europe, among them is a ten-year-old boy. Chosen by a countess as a study object, this boy is christened Angelo and receives an extensive linguistic-musical education. Word quickly spreads about the exotic, but euroeanized valet. Angelo is passed around in the Europe of the beginning Enlightenment, from noble house to noble house, from Messina to the imperial court in Vienna.
